Trade Ins

On a trade in, you give us your used gear and we apply the value of that gear towards a purchase you are making in our store or as credit on account for future purchase. On a consignment, you give us your used gear and we sell it for you and we pay you by cheque after the item(s) has sold.

We accept most used guitars offered to us that are in reasonably good shape that we feel we will be able to sell in a reasonable amount of time at fair market value. Preference is given to items from brands we already carry. We will consider other used instruments including keyboards, banjo, ukulele, mandolin, etc as well although our clientele is primarily guitar players.

Determining the value of used musical equipment is tricky and ultimately comes down to this - how much will someone ultimately pay for it? We don't really believe in inflating the price of our used equipment with a shot and a prayer that someone will pull the trigger or a plan to negotiate down. Just because a seller lists an item at a certain price doesn't mean anyone is actually going to pay it, know what I mean? We have a number of tools we use to determine how much we would need to list a used product for so that it will actually sell in a reasonable amount of time, including access to a record of recent sale prices for same/similar products. We use these tools to determine our expected sale value estimate, the amount we think we will be able to sell your item for. Complete the form above to receive your expected sale value estimate. -For trades you can expect to receive 70% of expected sale value

-For consignments you can expect to receive 75% of expected sale value

As a very broad rule of thumb, for current products in good condition you can expect to receive somewhere between 40-60% of the value that the product currently sells for new, depending on condition, current market, etc. Older and vintage products are more complicated and you will need to submit the form above to receive your expected sale value estimate.

Once a consignment item is sold it often needs to be shipped to the new owner and then the return period needs to lapse, then we start the payout process. Generally speaking, consignments are paid roughly 30 days from sale date.
